 | | I had a friend who was my employer and partner in a horse. I knew her for 12 years. We saw each other through out the years. Unfortunately she had a sudden and untimely death in November of 2007. She was a good person that rescued animals, and now these pets were left without her! Who will take care of them? What will be their future?
These were my thoughts as I sat in the church during her service. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Then I thought what if I made a pet and contact’s registry! Data storage with all your pets and contacts important pertinent information. What if you carried a membership card with an emergency 1-888 number to be contacted so that in the event that you can’t make it home due to an emergency, accident, illness, or unfortunately an untimely death you will have peace of mind to know that your pets will not be left unattended? Your wishes for your pets would be fulfilled. Do your family and friends know who your pet's veterinarian is? Do they know where your pet's favorite boarding facility is? Do they know what medication your pets are taking?
Not quite three weeks after attending the service, I had my own emergency surgery. Late on Saturday night I had a ruptured colon, a 50/50 chance for survival, a colostomy bag and a second surgery to follow in the future months. I was only 43 years old when this happened. I realized right then and there that life as you know it can change in almost a blink of an eye! I also have many pets, horses, dogs, a cat, chickens. All the thoughts run through your head, does my family know where I buy feed? What medication my pets take? Who are my pets' veterinarians? How to contact these people? When were their next scheduled appointments? What would happen with my horse? Where would he end up?
The list of questions could go on and on.
After all that has happened, that is why I believe Pets List is an important membership. You can feel secure that your pets will be taken care of the way you intended for them to be cared for in case of emergency.
